The members of the Collegiate 100 and 100 Collegiate Women presented its Power 100 Awards in style at the Black Tie Scholarship Awards Gala on November 16, 2013 in the Willie A. Tempton Student Center Ballroom at Prairie View A&M University. KPVU's Maurice Perkins (DJ MoPhat) served as host for the gala affair, themed "Knowing the Value of US!"
Honorees of the award included Texas State Representatives Alma Allen and Sylvester Turner, Professors George Brown and Kelvin Kirby and the Women’s Volley Ball and Men’s Indoor Track Teams of Prairie View A&M University. Mrs. Allen has represented district 121 for the past four years, while Mr. Turner has represented district 139 for the more than fifteen years. Dr. Brown has served as head of biology department and director pre-medicine for more than twenty years, with Dr. Kirby serving as faculty member and director for NASA sponsored research for some fifteen years. Both the Volley Ball and Indoor Track Teams have won the SWAC championship during the past three years.

The gala is a major event for the Collegiate 100 since its re-chartering at the university in March 2011. The organization was founded at Prairie View A&M University in 1993. Proceeds from the gala will support the organization’s mentoring program at Arnold Middle School and tutoring at Navasota Elementary School, scholarships to students and other special programs at the university.

The Collegiate 100, an auxiliary organization of the
100 Black Men of America is sponsored by the 100 Black Men of Metro Houston, Inc. The mission is to support the 100 in its four for the
future programs: mentoring, education, health and wellness and economic
empowerment to improve the quality of life of the community. The Collegiate 100 was founded in 1993 by Frederick V. Roberts at Prairie View A&M University and became a national organization in December 1994.
